X Factor 2013: Who is Jeff Gutt? Watch All His Performances

Full disclosure: We’re suckers for any reality TV contestant with a cute kid. Whether or not Mom or Dad can sing, if they’ve got an adorable little one in tow, we typically want them to stick around. Thankfully, in the case of X Factor contestant Jeff Gutt we don’t have to suffer through bad vocals. This single dad from Detroit, Michigan, is totally talented and has a cute son to boot.

Jeff immediately caught our attention when he auditioned in Denver. He’d first tried out for X Factor back in Season 2, making it just as far as boot camp before Simon Cowell and Co. sent him packing. This time around, Jett sang “Creep” by Radiohead, and the 37-year-old proved he’s got the pipes to win Season 3. That performance also re-introduced us to Jeff’s little boy, who ran onstage after his dad’s great audition and melted the hearts of everyone in the audience.

Throughout his time on The X Factor, Jeff’s taken the judges’s feedback to heart. He’s so committed to winning the show that he’s having trouble sleeping. Not that he has much to worry about. Everyone, including Simon, is happy to have him back.

Simon even admitted the error of the show’s ways during Jeff’s audition, telling him, “Jeff, you’re the one that got away last year. You’re not getting away this year.” And so far that’s proven true! Jeff’s a frontrunner in this year’s competition as one of the two remaining contestants on Kelly Rowland’s Over 25 team.

It's a spot we think he's likely to keep after his Top 8 Big Band performance of "Feelin' Good." And Jeff should most certainly be feeling good after that great performance!

After making his way into the Top 6, the only remaining member of Team Over 25s had two songs to perform on December 4. His first: Mariah Carey's "Without You," a number he seemed nervous to perform but hit out of the park! Unfortunately, the judges weren't quite as wowed by his take on "Daniel" by Elton John...but we guess it was just them since Jeff made it into the Top 4 and the semifinals. Congratulations, Mr. Gutt!

Come the semis, America decided to give Jeff a tried-and-true favorite: Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." He then faced Restless Road for a duet of The Police's "Every Breath You Take." Jeff finished off the night strong with Imagine Dragons's "Demons," winning praise from all of the judges.

And also from America! Jeff made it into the Top 3 where he performed three numbers. First, "Dream On" by Aerosmith; second, The Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" with the band's lead singer John Rzeznik; and third, he gave Radiohead's "Creep" another go, bringing it all back full circle.

Unfortunately, however, Jeff couldn't pull out a win with competitors Alex & Sierra crowned the Season 3 winners. Still, Jeff came in second, which is nothing to be ashamed of!
