Who Is Lucy Griffiths? True Blood Cast Bio

True Blood’s Lucy Griffiths — known to most of us as the irrepressible, occasionally fanatical Nora Gainsborough was born on November 10th, 1986 in Brighton, England. Griffiths was passionate about acting from a young age. She idolized performers like Dame Judi Dench and Kate Winslet for their dramatic chops, and performers like Jennifer Saunders for their comedic skill.

Before making a go of it as a professional actor, Griffiths attended first the private Windlesham School and later, the Dorothy Stringer School. As a younger performer, she was a member of the National Youth Music Theatre. Singing had long been a passion, and throughout her schooling, Griffiths participated in concerts, and performed in musicals and operas. Finally, she completed her education, graduating from Varndean College.

Her big break stateside came when she played the role of Marian, in Robin Hood. Although it was the role that would popularize her in America and eventually garner her the notice required to be cast as Nora on True Blood, it wasn’t easily achieved.

In fact, one of the stipulations while they were casting Marian was that the actress have serious horseback riding skills. Griffiths lied and then took horseback riding lessons on the sly — she was cast in the role and no one was ever the wiser!
