Who Is “A”? Our Top 3 Suspects From the Pretty Little Liars Season 5, Episode 15

This week’s Pretty Little Liars mostly played it cool on the “A” game, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have opportunity to update our theories on who the mystery villainess might be. Here are our top three “A” suspects from Season 5, Episode 15 (“Fresh Meat”). Did yours make the list?

We’ve been thinking a lot about the possibility of one of the Liars being “A” and, this week, our eye is on Hanna. Though she is arguably the most lovable Liar, PLL has been playing up the fact that she may also be the smartest. Though we’re still not sold on the idea (guys, Spencer is very clever), we do think Hanna could be possible of an epic manipulation. She’s proven her merits in recent seasons, and her close relationship with Mona aka the Original “A” is suspicious. Did Hanna visit the trailer park in this week’s episode not to check on Ali’s alibi for the Liars, but to check out the Holbrook/Ali connection as “A”?

Melissa Hastings

Melissa got a mention in this episode with the introduction of new character Johnny, who might be about to rent the Hastings family’s guest house. Spencer warns him to stay away, but he doesn’t seem to take her warning seriously. Could this be Melissa’s spy, sent to Rosewood in her stead to keep an eye on the Liars? Johnny could have planted that bookmark for Aria to find during the party. And while we’re on the subject, where is Melissa? Is she really out of town, or is she just in hiding, playing the “A” game from the shadows? If anyone could pull this off, it would be a Hastings.

This is a bit of a stretch, but we’re still not letting this guy off the hook for all of the shady stuff he’s pulled in the past. Marks against his character in this episode? The fact that one of the chief “A” maneuvers in this episode, aka the Caleb in the Kiln incident, took place in the school, Ezra’s former stomping grounds. Yes, most of the characters are technically students there, but add this move to the fact that, last week, the chief “A” move staple-sheeting Aria in the wall took place at The Brew, and you have a pattern. Jackie’s speech about the terribleness of Ezra seemed a little out of tone for a show presumably trying to convince us that Ezra is worth another chance from Aria. Could this have been another hint that there is more to Ezra than even his true crime novelist intentions?

An Undisclosed Twin

Ali seems to know more about the “A” game then she is disclosing, but we really don’t think she’s “A.” We do believe, however, that she could have a sister who is responsible for the villainy. This week, Ali didn’t get much to do in jail, but she did get a message from “A” mentioning that she would see her friends soon. Could PLL the TV series be drawing twinny inspiration from PLL the book?
