Glee’s Stoner Brett: Who Is Actor Ryan Heinke?

For quite a while now, Glee’s Stoner Brett has been one of our favorite of the show’s minor characters. Sure, he stays mainly in the background, but every time he does make an appearance it’s pretty much the best.

Stoner Brett first appeared back in Glee Season 2, Episode 7: “The Substitute,” when Kurt (Chris Colfer) brushed past him and remarked that he smells homeless. He appeared briefly in two other episodes and twice in Season 3, as well. (He was the one who told Brittany [Heather Morris] that he’d alway wanted robot teachers, and later told Santana [Naya Rivera] that he loved her after seeing that infamous “2 girls, 1 cat” sex tape.)

Come Season 4, he became an even bigger character, appearing in six episodes, and even (unsuccessfully) auditioning for the New Directions. (We know. We’re still upset no one else recognized the secret brilliance of his “Busters Get Popped” performance.)

This season, Brett’s back — and he’s even running for Prom King! But just who is Ryan Heinke, the man behind our favorite dim-witted McKinley kid?

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Ryan currently lives and works in Hollywood, where he’s appeared in a number of movies and TV shows over the years. The 20-year-old has been acting since a young age, which is why you might not recognize him from the adorable childhood photo that still graces his IMDB page.

He started out with bit parts in Drake and Josh and The Santa Clause 3, then moved on to background roles in Desperate Housewives and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Most recently, Ryan has appeared on CSI, Two and a Half Men, and the CW’s 90210.

Glee, however, has been his more recurring role to date. We love getting to watch him on the show. And if Glee ever wanted to bump up his screentime, you certainly wouldn’t hear us complain!
