X Factor 2013: Who Went Home? — December 5, 2013

It's another double elimination tonight on The X Factor (total surprise, we know) and it's bound to be one of the toughest yet. We'll be saying goodbye to two top acts from the Top 6, taking us to the Top 4 and our official Season 3 semifinalists.

But before all the tears (and after the emotional December 4 episode, you know there are bound to be tears) let's talk about the night's two guest performers: Emblem3 and Little Mix. The dual performances pitted The X Factor UK against the American version. Which X Factor reigned supreme? Well, as long as they don't look at the ratings (the UK show trumps the US version in that regard), we're gonna call it a tie.

Alright, now back to the sad. The first act to leave the competition was Ellona Santiago of Team Demi Lovato. It was quite the shock since Ellona was such a star with her performances of Lady Gaga's "Applause" and Beyoncé's "If I Were a Boy." Did taking on such famous divas end up being a detriment to the 17-year-old? We've got our theories. Whatever the case, she'll be missed.

As for the final two, Rion Paige of Team Demi Lovato and Carlito Olivero of Team Paulina Rubio had to face off for that final Top 4 spot as the last hopes for their respective judges. Both are vets of the "Save Me Song" round and showed they're not giving up on the chance to win.

Rion took to the stage first with Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me," a much different performance than Carlito's rendition of Usher's "You Make Me Wanna" (with surprise appearance of almost everyone in the live studio audience).

Their songs sung, Rion and Carlito turned to the judges. Demi picked her girl Rion while Paulina stuck with Carlito. As for Kelly Rowland and Simon Cowell, both decided to keep Carlito, which sent Rion home and ended the 13-year-old's journey on The X Factor as well as Dems's hopes for a winner. Best wishes to you, Rion!

So how do the teams stand now that we're heading into the semis? Take a gander:

Boys (Paulina Rubio): Carlito Olivero

Over 25s (Kelly Rowland): Jeff Gutt

Groups (Simon Cowell): Restless Road, Alex & Sierra
