Why Isn’t Glee on Tonight?

Thursdays are Glee days. Hence, Thursdays are one of the best days of the week. We wake up in the morning knowing that Blaine (Darren Criss) will soon be serenading us from our TV screens. And that makes any day a good day.

Sadly, however, if you turn on your television tonight — Thursday, October 17, 2013 — there will be no Glee to provide the sweet soundtrack to your evening. The show is on a nearly month-long hiatus, and won’t return until November 7, 2013.

You can blame sports for taking the show’s time slot. Baseball, specifically. FOX will be airing Major League Baseball games on Thursdays for the next few weeks. And baseball brings in lots of viewers.

On top of that, there’s a bit more to the story. After filming wrapped for Glee’s Season 5 Episode 3 Cory Monteith tribute, the cast and crew were emotionally exhausted. Understandably, they all needed to take a couple weeks of break. So while baseball is mostly to blame, the cast and crew’s need for time and space to recover after Cory Monteith’s (Finn) unexpected death earlier this summer is also a factor. And you know what, we’re pretty sure that nobody will fault them for that.

Glee returns with Season 5, Episode 4: “A Katy or a Gaga” on November 7. To get caught up on all the spoilers and teases for this Katy Perry and Lady Gaga-themed episode, take a look at our complete spoiler roundup.
