Why Sean Lowe Went Home on Dancing With the Stars 2013 Week 8
So … no Disco for Sean Lowe next week on Dancing With the StarsSeason 16! Sorry, fans, he’s not Stayin’ Alive for that. At least now Sean can really spend some quality time with his Bachelor fiancee, Catherine. Who knows, now that he’s no longer on DWTS, he may even go back to Texas and live a normal-person life. We’ll see.
Sean and Peta Murgatroyd — who probably won’t miss being dragged into the tabloid drama — had the lowest scores of Week 8 and, in keeping with the season’s predictable theme, they went home. Sean lost control a bit in his runaway groom Tango. As Len Goodman put it, “It wasn’t a great dance, it was a little bit ugly.” Later, Bruno Tonioli said Sean’s magician-themed Jazz Trio routine “had plenty of magic with a little bit of tragic.” Sean attacked both dances and lost style points for it. Sean and Peta took a step back from last week’s higher scores — only earning 7s from all three judges for both dances, for a total score of 42 out of 60. As Sean joked, they were consistent, if nothing else. He could’ve been speaking of the show itself.
We’re not surprised or, frankly, that upset about Sean leaving on Week 8. It’s a respectable placement (and we still miss Andy Dick!). We’ll still be shocked if Ingo Rademacher andKym Johnson don’t go home on next week’s Semifinals, leaving us with the final four we all saw coming around Week 2. Ingo and Kym were the first to be announced safe this week, but Brooke Burke-Charvet added that this week’s final two — including Jacoby Jones andKarina Smirnoff — were “not necessarily the bottom two.” So it’s possible the real bottom two was indeed Sean vs. Ingo.
Question: Does having a “surprise” couple under the red lights, or even “in jeopardy” (which means nothing and is only a device to build drama), give you enough suspense and excitement, even if you could tell who would be going home? Or does this season still feel predictable?
How much has Sean enjoyed this experience? “I have enjoyed every second of it. I truly am blessed to have taken part in this with all these stars. I’m still just a normal guy from Dallas. What an incredible opportunity.” Peta said, “You know, this season has been so much fun and he is just the most humble, the most wonderful guy that I could’ve asked for for this season. He’s just made it so much fun for me.” Translation: He’s not a diva after all!
