Why Was Jill Zarin Fired From Real Housewives of New York? She Says…

Love her or love to hate her, there's no denying that Jill Zarin was a big part of what made the first few seasons of Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York so addictive. The outspoken Housewife was famously ousted weeks before Season 5 started filming, and now she's finally giving fans her side of the story about what went down behind the scenes leading to her firing.

Jill dished the deets on Oprah: Where Are They Now? "Being fired from the Housewives was not a surprise, at all, to me," she admits in a video that you can watch below. Then she dove into "what nobody knows."

"One night, I was just — I think I took a sleeping pill, and I typed out an email to my producer, and three out of the five housewives. And I said, 'I'm leaving the show.'" In the email, she explained that she was in a good place, and wanted to leave on a high note.

That said, Jill quickly clarifies that she never sent that email to Bravo. "I kind of got cold feet the next day."

Still, Jill says that she had a sixth sense when she got the call from her production company about being fired. "I knew." She adds that she "shed a few tears, because when anything ends, it seems so final."

Jill goes on to say that she doesn't know exactly why she was axed. "Nobody will tell me the true answer!" At the time she was told "that they thought the show had gone so dark that it couldn't recover, and they needed to change the cast. I don't think the fans would agree."

Still, after all of her ups and downs on the show, Jill thinks she "1000 percent made the right decision" by joining RHONY. "I was given the opportunity of a lifetime."
