Will There Be a Game of Thrones Season 5?

Even though all eyes are on the Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere right now, we’re already wondering about the prospect of Season 5. After all, we don’t ever want this show to end — at least not until it's made its way through the whole epic A Song of Ice and Fire story.

So, will there be a Game of Thrones Season 5? Thankfully, all signs point to yes. The show is extremely popular, so popular that with each new season we see it break its own piracy records. The show has also been given a major vote of confidence from HBO president Michael Lombardo, who said in July, “As far as I’m concerned, [Game of Thrones] can go on as long as there are stories to tell.”

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have been officially signed on to the show through Season 6, and have said they envision the show lasting seven, maybe eight seasons, so there's no reason to worry about them wanting to wrap things up just yet.

If that's not enough to make you feel confident, we’re already learning casting news about the possible fifth season, including reports that Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) and Michiel Huisman (Daaria) will be promoted to a series regulars in Season 5.

So, when should we expect confirmation that a fifth season is on the way? Well, if history tells us anything, it’s that HBO loves to renew a show for a future season right before or after its newest season premieres, like they did with Girls earlier this year. So knowing that, we hope to receive word of a fifth season for GoT any day now.
