American Idol Winner Candice Glover’s Album Delayed: What Happened?
Although the powers that be at American Idol were pushing for the winner of season 12 to release an album within six weeks of winning, a current rumor is telling us Candice Glover’s release date has been pushed back from July 16 to August 27. So much for striking while the iron is hot. And, considering her first week of sales for her single, “I Am Beautiful,” was the worst of any former Idol winner, Interscope might be striking while the iron is ice cold.
Adding insult to injury, the American Idol LIVE! summer tour must not have had the draw it’s had in past seasons, as 10 dates have been canceled.
On the bright side, Candice premiered a snippet of the single that will be released before the album, and it sounds quite good. She did so with the help of the new Instagram video sharing-app, which allows for 15 seconds of footage as opposed to Vine’s six seconds. If the rest of the song sounds this good, her album might reap the benefits of releasing the single first.
There has been quite a bit of backlash surrounding Idol this season, so we certainly hope the amazingly talented Candice doesn’t suffer from the stigma surrounding the show.
