Survivor Winner Tina Wesson’s Son, 25, Dies in Car Accident
Tina Wesson won Survivor: Australia back in 2001 and she's competing on the now-airing Survivor: Blood vs. Water with her daughter, Katie Collins.
Sadly, Tina's son and Katie's brother, Taylor Lee Collins, died on Tuesday, December 3 in Chattanooga, TN.
According to the Times Free Press, 25-year-old Taylor was the passenger in a car that went off the road and struck a wall. He was ejected from the car and died from his injuries. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The next day, as news started to spread, Katie tweeted thanks to fans and players, including Boston Rob, who reached out with condolences.
"You guys have no idea how much these thoughts and prayers mean to me and my mother," wrote Katie, whose CBS bio lists her age as also being 25. "Each and every comment has been read and appreciated. <3 ... Running out of characters wht I want to say is thank you so much. My brother was an amazing soul and a best friend I wish he were still here."
Tina had just tweeted to a fan on December 2 about the fan's brother, saying Katie barely survived having one. She was away from Twitter for several days, returning on December 6 to share the smiling photo shown, writing, "My beautiful boy's body is no longer here, but the fun happy memories will last a lifetime.Thnxs for all the love!"
It's hard to even imagine enduring a loss like this — especially one so sudden. This has been the week of devastating vehicle accidents, from Paul Walker to HGTV's Bill Beckwith.
Send your hugs and love to Tina and Katie as they try to make their way through this difficult time, while also watching themselves compete for $1 million every Wednesday on Survivor.
