Glee Wins Big at 2014 Best. Ever. TV Awards, Brad Falchuk Responds
Glee may have been virtually shut out the 2014 Emmys, but the show took home several top honors at E! Online’s 2014 Best. Ever. TV Awards. What awards did the FOX dramedy win, you ask? Read on to find out!
First up, Best Actor in a Comedy went to our beloved Chris Colfer (Kurt). Since Chris is so widely adored by fans his win may have seemed like a lock, but he fought off some seriously stiff competition from a bevy of talented actors such as How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory, and his own pal and Glee co-star, Darren Criss (Blaine). Maybe next year, Darren!
Chris’ fellow Glee original, Lea Michele (Rachel), was also victorious, nabbing the Best Actress in a Comedy title. Glee’s sixth and final season will only have 13 episodes which will air in 2015, but we’re confident that Lea can snag a repeat win next year.
The most heated race however, was for Best Couple. After extending the voting period, the folks over at E! Online agreed to declare two sets of winners: The Vampire Diaries’ Damon and Elena, and, of course, Kurt and Blaine. Apparently Kurt and Blaine received tonsof votes from Russia, like coming from citizens of the intolerant nation who wanted to promote equality and make sure that a gay couple could be recognized as TV's Best Couple.
E! Online was sure to tell Chris, Darren, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, and producer Brad Falchuk about the unique voting pattern, and Brad was quick to express his gratitude to all Glee fans near and far. “Thanks to all of our fans who voted Lea and Chris best actress and actor in E!'s Best Ever TV Awards. Your devotion to them and the show is really appreciated and obviously we agree that those two are all kinds of awesome,” he tells E! Online. “My understanding is that there were a lot of votes coming in from Russia for Kurt and Blaine as best couple. How cool is that? Nice to see that the people have a different view from their government when it comes to certain undeniable issues.”
