The Vampire Diaries Wins Big — Forget the Emmys!

The 2014 Emmy Award nominations were announced today and, as you may have guessed, The Vampire Diaries was sadly left off of the list (along with some of our other favorites). But, that’s OK because TVD won big at another TV awards presentation — one we find just as important. What competition are we talking about? Read on to find out!

E! Online has announced the winners in its Best. Ever. TV Awards, and TVD raked in the awards. The vampire drama won in the following categories:

— Best Kiss (for Damon and Elena’s goodbye smooch)
— Love Triangle You’re So Over
— Moment That Made You Want to Throw Out Your TV (for Damon’s apparent death)
— Best Guilty Pleasure
— Sexiest Moment (for the Klaroline 100th episode hookup)
— Best Couple (for Delena, who tied with Glee’s Kurt/Blaine)

TVD executive producer Julie Plec had this to say in reaction to the oodles of awards TVD scooped up: "Once again, our fandom has rallied to show their love for TVD and our gratitude grows along with their never-ending passion. Tune in in October to solve the mystery of where's Damon? Will he find his way back to Elena? And more importantly, if he and Bonnie aren't dead, will they survive their time together without killing each other out of mutual aggravation and annoyance?"

Very cool, guys. In all honesty, we think fan-voted awards like this one are just as important as more traditionally-respected presentations like the Emmys. Though we love watching the annual TV awards ceremony as much as the next TV fan, the Emmys are notorious for ignoring many genre and teenage shows for “prestige” television — and we think they deserve just as much love!
