Adam Levine may be ready to settle down with his fiance (and Victoria’s Secret model), Behati Prinsloo, but he wasn’t always that way. In fact, according to Adam, there was a time when he was way more in touch with his inner rockstar — maybe a little too in touch.
Totally understandable. Let’s examine the facts: He’s one of the best looking guys in music (or anywhere), he’s the frontman for one of the most popular bands out there, and of course, he’s loaded. Who wouldn’t get a little carried away? In a recent interview with GQ, Adam admits that he fell victim to letting the whole rockstar thing go to his head… a time he calls living on “the primal level.”
“All of a sudden I had money in my bank account,” Adam explains. “I hadn’t had a break in a long time. And I went a little… nuts. I deserved to go a little bit nuts. And I had the time of my life.”
And because of the way he acted — and, you know, the other stuff that makes him amazing — Adam wouldn’t be surprised to find out there are people out there who don’t actually like him.
“Would it be really easy to assume I was a douchebag? Definitely. One hundred percent,” Adam says. “I’m not an easy guy to root for.”
But given the chance, Adam says, he could probably change their minds.
“If I knew everyone in the world, they would love me. Every… one of them,” Adam says. “I’m not arrogant. I’m cocky. It’s different. Cocky is playful.”
