New X Factor judge Kelly Rowland wants to keep her job is standing by her fellow judge/boss Simon Cowell.
Kelly and the judges — including the other newbie, Paulina Rubio — answered questions Thursday at the Television Critics Association meeting. They wanted to talk about X-Factor Season 3, which premieres September 11, but of course they were also asked to respond to the week's big bombshell: that Simon had gotten his friend's wife pregnant.
Demi Lovato stayed out of it, just saying (via People), "There's no reason for me to talk about his personal life, and I'm here to talk about the show." Paulina also just said the gossip is part of life, and Simon didn't tell her anything about the news yet, "but I will support him if it is true."
Kelly, on the other hand, praised Simon and showed optimism for his future as a dad. "I think that Simon has always been a very classy guy, he's always been a very respected guy, and he's going to be a great father."
She gets points for loyalty, but Demi wins the day in terms of what Simon would probably want them to say. No comment! Stay on point! He had his own brief words on the subject at the TCAs panel, basically saying he would love to speak out but he can't at this point because he has to "respect a lot of people's feelings right now."
Cue the eye rolls of hundreds of past insulted tenagers from American Idol: "Now he respects people's feelings?!"
