The X Factor 2013 premiered on September 11, and we've finally gotten through that awkward hybrid of feelings we know fondly (or not) as "auditions." Between the good, the ear-splitting, and the awe-inspiring acts, we now have our Top 40 contestants, and there's no stopping our excitement for what's to come. Also getting behind their contestants? The judges, who got their assignments for mentoring groups on the show.

On the September 26 episode of The X Factor, the final acts got their chance to show the judges what they had — and a few of the final acts even made it through to the next round! Oh yeah, and that whole Bootcamp and Judges' House thing? It's dunzo.

At the end of the episode, the judges hacked apart the group of hopefuls into four groups of 10, and each judge took on the segment they were assigned, with glee (unlike some people, Antonio "L.A." Reid). So, who did they get?

Well, as MJs Big Blog accurately spoiled back in the day, the judges got pretty much the perfect pairings.

Last year, contestants were divided up into four categories: Britney Spears mentored the 12-16-year-olds, Demi Lovato took the 17-24-year-olds, L.A. Reid got the 25 and ups, and Simon Cowell had the groups.

So, what’s up with this year? Well, first of all, they’re going back to the format of other X Factor shows — as well as the first year of the USA edition — and splitting contestants into different categories: Girls, Boys, Over 25s, and Groups.

Which judge is taking which? Demi will be working with Girls, new judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland will be taking Boys and Over 25s respectively, and Simon will tackle the groups once more.

While this division seems pretty obvious for several reasons, let’s hope that the boys Paulina is mentoring aren’t too distracted by her beauty to sing on key. After all, with Simon “Creator of One Direction” Cowell running the Groups again, everyone will need to bring their A-game to compete with Papa Si.
