Update (December 19, 2013):
Tulisa denies the charges filed against her in relation to supply Class A drugs, reports The Huffington Post UK. The former X Factor judge arrived at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London the morning of December 19. She is accused of setting up an £860 (about $1,400) deal for 13.9 grams of cocaine to someone who turned out to be an undercover reporter.
Original story (December 10, 2013):
Life hasn’t been particularly easy for X Factor UK judge Tulisa Contostavlos since she left the show earlier this year. The latest bump in the road: British prosecutors are charging the Little Mix mentor for allegedly helping to supply cocaine.
Back in June, the UK tabloid The Sun ran a story alleging the then-24-year-old singer had furnished an undercover journalist with cocaine. Apparently the story had some backing as Tulisa was soon after arrested along with a 35-year-old man. She was officially charged on December 9 with prosecutor Baljit Ubhey announcing police will charge Tulisa with “being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.”
The former member of London group N-Dubz is set to appear in court on December 19.
During her two-year stint at The X Factor UK, Tulisa mentored pop act Little Mix to the show’s first-ever group win in 2011, but her rocky history with X Factor head honcho Simon Cowell led to rumors he wanted her out. Eventually, Tulisa made her exit and was replaced by returning judge Sharon Osbourne.
As of publishing, Tulisa had yet to publicly comment on the development though she did post a message about dating on her Instagram. Legal advice would have seemed more fitting...
