Sure, sure. America voted and proclaimed Alex & Sierra the winners of X Factor Season 3 but this wouldn’t be the first time voting in the U.S. has gone askew (thankfully hanging chad doesn’t exist in a digital form). After the news the 22-year-olds won it all on December 19, we asked what you guys made of the decision and the results are a little bit surprising.

Also in the running for the final were Top 3 contestants Carlito Olivero and Jeff Gutt. Although Carlito got the boot early on in the show, taking third overall, the former boy bander and Chicago native always seemed to get the girls a-screamin' when he switched into sexy mode. Still, Carlito kept his third place spot in our poll, garnering only 4 percent of the vote. (About the same amount who said their favorite didn’t even make the finals.)

Kelly Rowland’s personal rock star Jeff Gutt also kept his position in the Season 3 race, though it was a little tighter than you might expect; Jeff claimed nearly a third of the overall vote with 32 percent. With many a fan clamoring that he should have been the overall victor, signs seem to point to Jeff having a following long after his X Factor days are behind him.

As for the champions, Alex & Sierra got a stunning 60 percent of the votes. Not bad for an act that’s already seeing success on iTunes and has the full backing of industry tycoon Simon Cowell. Now, of course, it remains to be seen if the two can ride that wave all the way to a successful debut album.

What do you make of the results? Still think something’s out of whack or all about Team Alex & Sierra? The comments are ready and waiting below.
