X Factor girl group Fifth Harmony has somehow made it through a litany of name changes (remember LYLAS, you guys?) and constant criticism from the Season 2 judges. Their mentor Simon Cowell summarized it best: “Going into this, you were the underdogs.” On December 12, 2012, the fearless fivesome bravely performed Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen,” all while swaddled costumes seemingly straight from Katy Perry’s subconscious.

The judges were — for the first time — unanimous in their praise of the girl group. Britney Spears gushed, “It was like magic,” adding that their performance oozed “inspiring girl power.” Demi Lovato, no stranger to the pop game, told them, “It was so cute, and it pulled off the spark I think you guys need.” The grinch himself, Simon Cowell, couldn’t help but praise his mentees, telling them they epitomized the essence of the song they just sung.

What do you think? Is Fifth Harmony going to win it all?
