No matter what happened on the finale of The X Factor Season 2, great things came out of it. Tate and Carly Rose will doubtless have insane careers — Tate with the help of his five mill, and Carly somewhere in Disney Land or Nickelodeonville, or whatever. But what about girl group Fifth Harmony, whose five members met when they were put together on the show?

In the past, groups on X Factor USA haven’t fared so well on the show, or in the real world. But that’s not the case in England, where XF UK birthed the glorious five-headed fangirling monster we fondly refer to as One Direction. The five guys were thrown together by Simon Cowell — just like 5H. They were mentored by Simon — just like 5H. They lost the show and came in third — JUST LIKE 5H. So, will they have a similar career?

It’s hard to tell at this point what’s going to happen with the band. In an interview after the show, the girls mentioned that they would be stoked to work with Simon on a record, and more. So, what did Simon say about the possibility of signing them? “There is such a market now for this girl band I believe, I think where there's boybands there'll be girl bands. We may have someone who can fit that gap!”

Will Fifth Harmony stay together or break up? All signs point to the girls being together for the foreseeable future. As for after that, it seems like the vocal differences between the girls may lead to some of them branching off into solo careers. Demi called Camila out for having the best voice the first time she heard them on live shows, and we’ve heard some pretty distinctive sounds come out of the teens this season — sounds that might be more marketable as solo acts.
