Last night on the X Factor USA, the Top 10 sang for our votes. Tonight, someone goes home. We all know how this works by now, right?

In honor of Rock Week, our group song tonight is Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Looks like the singing is live this week, because Leroy totally misses his cue, oops! Astro and Chris rap a few verses about the judges and the show that are pretty fun.

After the recap of last night, it’s time to get some results! Oh, good, they’re doing it differently this week. The last few weeks of reading off an endless list of who’s safe have been a snoozefest. So the first person through is... LeRoy Bell! Oh, yay. Also safe: Lakoda Rayne, whoa. Didn’t see that one coming. Nice to see that Paula will have somebody left to mentor, at least.

Digital camera product placement segment, yawn. Next!

Ooh, time for Rihanna! She’s performing her new single “We Found Love” while wearing: stockings with garters, torn jeans, a plaid bra, and a giant hooded jacket. Luckily, she’s Rihanna, so she’s kind of pulling it off, and this song is so awesome we don’t really care. Also, the stage setup on this show is so crazy, y’all. The lights are like Vegas on crack. The sound mix is sort of crappy, but whatever, RiRi kills it.

More results! Chris is through. Melanie is through. Josh is through. None of these things are surprising. Marcus is through, too, and that’s not exactly surprising although it’s less certain than the other three. Still in danger: Astro, Rachel, Drew and Stacy. Huh.

After a break, we learn that Drew is safe, along with an extremely emotional Rachel. Aww, don’t cry, baby girl! Boo. Never do that to Rachel again, Steve.

So, our Bottom 2 tonight are Astro and Stacy. Stacy’s presence in the bottom isn’t remotely surprising — she’s been pretty bad for the past two weeks — but we thought Astro was outstanding last night. Weird.

First to sing for her life is Stacy, who’s doing “Amazing Grace.” It’s... pretty rough. She gets better as the song goes on, but it’s not exactly a performance that would inspire us to save her, let’s leave it at that.

Astro comes out and says he doesn’t feel like it’s necessary for him to perform, and asks L.A. if he should, and then asks the audience. How dramatic! His rap, set to the Jackson 5’s “Never Can Say Goodbye” is actually a pretty cool tribute to the judges and to his experience on the show, but he’s clearly miserable. If he performed it with his normal swagger, he’d be lighting the place up.

Time for the judges to make their decisions. L.A. is obviously going to axe Stacy, because Astro’s his boy. He tells Astro he’s disappointed in his performance tonight, but he still chooses to send Stacy home, duh. Next up is Nicole, and she’ll clearly be keeping Stacy because that’s her girl... yup! Paula has “tremendous respect” for both of them and votes to send Stacy home. It’s down to Simon — if he sends Stacy home she goes, if he sends Astro home it comes down to the votes.

Simon lectures Astro about his attitude, and Astro proceeds to completely blow it for himself by saying putting him in the Bottom 2 made him not want to perform. Astro, shhh, bite your tongue! Aw, he’s crying. He’s being a brat, but it’s kind of sad, too. Maybe contestants like Astro and Rachel really are too young for a show like this.

Luckily for Astro, Stacy’s performances the past couple of weeks have been big enough messes that Simon votes to send her home, and the littlest rapper lives to fight another day. Stacy pulls herself together and makes a speech thanking the judges and singles out Simon instead of her mentor Nicole, so that’s awkward.

And with that, we’re down to single digits! The Top 9 will perform next Tuesday, with the results on Wednesday, due to Thanksgiving. Do you think the right performer went home tonight?
