Fox is taking a huge gamble on The X Factor, and creator/judge Simon is feeling the heat. "This better bloody work or I am in huge trouble," he told The Daily Mail.
Lucky for Simon, The X Factor has a couple major sponsors helping to foot the bill. Pepsi, which kicked itself for passing on American Idol in its early days, jumped at the chance to sponsor The X Factor. The soda company will put up over $60 million. Chevrolet and Sony Electronics are also sponsors, though their contribution hasn't been made public yet.
Another sign that Fox isn't skimping on their new reality baby? Even the judges' chairs are plush. The starting price for the Aluminum Group's Soft Pad Management chair — a midcentury modern classic — is a whopping $2,689. Multiply that by four, and you have at least $10,756 going towards lumbar support for Simon, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid.
