Nicole Scherzinger has had a rough ride on The X Factor, with her stint as a judge on the show shrouded in controversy, outrage, and even death threats. Now, after Simon insinuated that the show's cast may be seeing a switch-up come Season 2, Nicole has revealed to RadarOnline that she might be returning to her true passion — her music.
“Next year for me, it’s about my music,” Nicole said. “This has been quite a learning experience, quite a journey for me. I didn’t expect to have been so emotional through the whole elimination process. I wanted to just mentor and empower artists.”
That opportunity may be denied her, though, if the rumors are true and she won't be invited back next year. It's no secret that Nicole never handled the controversy well, melting down when she was blamed for Rachel Crow's exit from the show, and she's the first to admit it: "The elimination process for me has been very difficult," she said. She'd prefer to be in a position where she's less susceptible to public criticism.
"I’m used to being on stage and performing and singing for people and people cheering for me," she admitted. "I am an artist first, not a judge first!”
But with Nicole's initially planned album, Her Name Is Nicole, canceled altogether, and the US release of her debut, Killer Love, pushed back repeatedly, is there space in the marketplace for her music?
