Apparently, word around the gossip mill is that Cheryl Cole may have been unceremoniously sacked from her X Factor USA judging position as a result of her accent. The British singer was born and raised in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and there have been whisperings that American contestants were having trouble understanding her in the few days she taped as a judge. Any truth to this juicy deet?

Not according to show host Steve Jones. "I can only remember two American people asking what she was saying. Seriously," he dished to Heat. "So it wasn't an issue. And my own accent hasn't been an issue, either. If anything, it's an ace in the hole — they seem to love it." "They," in this case, being, of course, us easily charmed Americans. Color us judged. Thanks, Steve.

The host also dismissed rumors of any awkwardness on set after Cheryl's departure. Evidently, it was all business as usual, and everyone went about taping as if nothing happened.

Rumor debunked!
