If there’s anyone familiar with the highs and lows of Britney Spears, it’s Shar Jackson. Yes, the same woman who was still in a relationship with Kevin Federline — and who already had two children by him — when K-Fed first hooked up with Britney has actually become one of Brit’s biggest supporters. Despite the controversy, it was actually Shar who helped care for Britney and Kevin’s two young sons after Brit split from Kevin and was seeking medical treatment for her breakdown .

Fresh off her broken engagement to Jason Trawick and her decision not to return to The X Factor (with some reports claiming she was, in fact, fired), people have been worried about Brit once again. Will she be okay? What’s the right next move for her? We ran into Shar recently at the Sundance Film Fest and couldn’t help but ask for her opinion on the matter.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Good to see you, Shar. What are you up to these days?
I’m good! I’m actually working on a new series that I think, initially, will be in webisode format. There’s five of us and we’re all women who, basically, were really hot in the ‘90s…and think we still are! The working title is Over the Hills. We’re just poking fun at ourselves and having a blast.

Let’s talk Britney. Do you think her leaving will hurt The X Factor?
I don’t think so. That show has been successful overseas for a while now. I don’t think that’s going to be the case.

Do you have thoughts on her broken engagement?
I just want her to be happy. Sometimes relationships don’t work out — I mean, I certainly know that to be the case. Things just don’t go as planned. But that only means God has something better in store for you. And I do think that’s what the case is going to be for her.

Right now there are conflicting reports as to whether or not she’ll set up a residency in Las Vegas. Do you think that’d be a good fit for her?
I think Britney in Vegas would be badass. I’ve been to a bunch of her shows and I think it would be a fantastic home for her.
