Britney Spears has finally inked a deal to replace one of the seats left vacant by Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul as a judge/mentor on Season 2 of The X Factor, but the process has not been a simple one.
Per Brit’s slight psychotic break in the mid-2000s, she’s since been placed under conservatorship by a judge. So, under court ruling, her dad is technically responsible for all her financial and personal decisions, but, apparently, Papa Spears is no momager.
"The last thing her father wants to do is be on the set for hours at a time," a source told RadarOnline.
So, always the know-it-all Simon Cowell suggested Brit's fiance Jason Trawick become one of her conservators.
"Jamie just isn't comfortable in that world but her fiancé, Jason Trawick is, because he is a respected Hollywood agent," the source reasoned. "Simon and Britney's camp agreed it would be a good idea to have Jason petition the court to become a co-conservator of Britney's personal life but he isn't seeking to get involved in her finances. Jason is also very excited for Britney to join the show."
Britney and her Federline-spawn currently live with Trawick, but the pop princess has no plans to rush a wedding anytime soon (maybe Ross Geller's chant of "three divorces" echoes in her head, too?). It seems to us like with the kind of regular exposure The X Factor will bring her, Brit could finally be on the verge of that major comeback, so we really hope she doesn't muck it up by mixing business with her love life — again!
