Look, y'all, just because eight acts didn't make it through to the Top 16 doesn't mean they don't get to hear some patronizing words on their way out ("You're going home, sweetie" -Britney Spears). So, who came thisclose to the Live Shows but won't get the chance?
James “JT” Tanner had the potential to be this year’s Astro — if he could have worked on his stage presence and attitude. Although his take on “Party Like a Rock Star” was entertaining, it ultimately wasn't enough to make him one of the top 4 Teens.
Reed Deming and his darling haircut (and controversial black blazer) could have made it all the way, if only he could have gotten over his nerves. He shines most when singing Top 40 songs, but falters when he tries to push beyond the boundaries of his range. Keep your eye out for him — we have a feeling this isn't the last we'll see of Reed.
Daryl Black was totally jipped by missing out on some major screen time this season. We loved his version of “Stereo Hearts,” but we never got to know him and love him. Apparently the judges felt the same.
Tara Simon had the misfortune of some pretty suspicious editing and a small case of too much time on the screen (Nick Youngerman called, he wants to know if he can borrow fifteen of those minutes). It’s undeniable that she has talent, but in the end, L.A. didn’t think she was the girl to win it for him.
