When Melanie Amaro won the very first season of The X Factor USA back in December 2011, her future looked bright.
A $5 million recording contract. A Pepsi commercial that would air during the Super Bowl. It seemed like Melanie was well on her way to becoming a household name.
Then... nothing. It’s been over a year since Melanie’s big X Factor win, and she still has yet to release an album. Sure, we got that Pepsi commercial, as promised. (With Elton John! In a medieval castle! It was... weird.) Since then, we’ve barely heard anything about Melanie.
Unfortunately, it looks like things just might stay that way. The Hollywood Reporter says that Melanie’s debut album, Truly, was supposed to come out just a few months after her big win.
Then the release got pushed to late 2012. Later it was pushed, again, to March 2013. Now, Epic Records tells THR that there is “no release date scheduled as of yet.” Yikes.
In contrast, season 2 winner Tate Stevens is currently recording his debut, and Syco Music/RCA Nashville have already announced an April 23 release date.
While we’re obviously excited about Tate’s debut, we hope that Melanie’s album will one day make it to store shelves as well. This girl has got a serious set of pipes! Someone with talent that memorable shouldn’t get stuck on the back burner.
