Ian Somerhalder Calls Years of Living Dangerously a “Dream Come True” — Watch the First Episode Online (VIDEO)
Yesterday, Showtime released the first episode of its new climate change documentary series Years Living Dangerouslyonto the Internet a week ahead of its April 13 TV debut — and Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder couldn’t be more excited about his part in the project. Check out his heartfelt tweet!
“Couldn't be more proud to watch this dream come true. CHECK OUT EPISODE 1 OF YEARS#YEARSProject,” Ian tweeted, along with a link to the first episode on YouTube. The nine-part series produced by James Cameron, Jerry Weintraub, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, follows “celebrity investigators” around the world to interview experts and talk to the people who have been most affected by climate change. In the stirring trailer for the series, James Cameron clarifies: “This is 100 percent a people story.” It seems the show is attempting to reframe the important issue not as a political one, but as a human one — while there’s still time to do something about it.
In addition to Ian, other celebrity investigators include: Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Jessica Alba, Olivia Munn, Don Cheadle, America Ferrera, and Michael C. Hall — among many, many others. In his episode, Ian will be following the daughter of Evangelical preacher Rick Joyner, as she tries to convince congregations and preachers across North Carolina to join the fight against climate change.
In this first episode, Harrison Ford travels to Indonesia to investigate how the palm oil industry has become one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases; Don Cheadle meets with a climate scientist and Evangelical Christian to talk the Texas drought; and Thomas L. Friedman goes to Syria to examine how climate change plays a part in the political crisis.
