Zac Efron Talks Life After Rehab — “My Family’s My Rock”
The news that Zac Efron went to rehab two separate times earlier this year shocked many of his fans. The clean-cut star rocketed to stardom thanks to Disney’s High School Musical; how could such a fresh face be battling addiction, right? Thankfully, Zac looks to have done his due diligence and gotten his life back on track. Now the star is opening up about his struggles.
“My family’s my rock,” he said at an October 15 press event via People. “I know they’re not going anywhere. More and more I’ve come to rely on my little brother to keep me grounded. He’s 21 now.”
Zac adds: “I know my family’s always going to be there. And there’s also — as my life changes, sometimes they can’t really be there for you … and I rely on my friends.”
The actor, who will be 26 on October 18, just returned from a father-son trip to Peru and, as yet another sign of positive progress, bought a new home located far from the alcohol-soaked party atmosphere he reportedly once frequented.
All the change seems to be doing Zac good. We mean, he sure looks healthy in the trailer for his new movie, That Awkward Moment. Posing butt naked in the film, Zac says the “sock thing” he used “fell off” at one point.
“You just cup your hands,” he explains. Zac, if you ever need a helping hand, just give us a call, okay?
