Zendaya is a singer, an actress — she's playing Aaliyah in Lifetime's new biopic — a former Dancing With the Stars contestant, and now the new face of a clothing line. In other words, this girl is amazing!
The 17-year-old “Replay” singer teamed up with Madonna and Madonna's daughter Lola to represent their brand, Material Girl — a fast-fashion junior collection that launched in 2010 and is exclusively at Macy’s in the United States.
Why Madonna and Lola chose Zendaya to be the face of their Fall 2014 marketing campaign, "Boardwalk Babe"? Well, it's not just because of the one name thing. Madonna said, "Zendaya exudes a confident, free spirit. We love having her as the new face of Material Girl." Lola added, “I love how Zendaya makes her own style rules to fit her personality — that’s who Material Girl is all about, being yourself to the fullest."
Zendaya also seems thrilled to be part of the project. “I am so excited to be chosen by Madonna and Lola as the new face of Material Girl; they are such a dynamic mother/daughter duo. Material Girl embraces having fun with fashion and being confident in your own skin… and who does that better than Madonna," she said.
For the photoshoot, Zendaya modeled the new collection at the Coney Island Boardwalk in a series of fun, sunny hot spots like the Wonder Wheel, the sweet shop, and more.
