There are plenty of Walking Dead-like shows on television today, but the latest offering from BBC has a pretty unique twist. For one thing, the new addition to a large roster of programs about the undead is a game show. Let us introduce I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse, a show where contestants test their survival skills in a staged (of course!) post-apocalyptic environment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will consist of eight contestants trapped inside a shopping mall, surrounded by walkers. Competitors must use “urban survival tactics” to avoid getting bitten by a zombie. If a zombie does take a bite, then you lose and exit the program in a “grisly style”.
As expected, the objective of I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse is to stay alive, but to do so contestants must perform tasks that put them in close contact with zombies. The show will air on the BBC in the U.K. with seven hour-long episodes have been ordered so far.
BBC’s entertainment commissioner Ruby Kuraishe joked, “This is a tongue-in-cheek game show that will really test one’s mettle. I think people will die to be a part of it.”
We’ve always wondered how we would fare in the post-apocalyptic world, but does this show pique your interest or does it sound a bit too contrived? Tell us your thoughts below!
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
